Al Green: Let's Stay Together

Voici un titre classique de la soul music, j'ai nommé Let's stay together interprété par Al Green, extrait de l'album qui porte le nom de la chanson (photo ci-contre) sorti en 1972. La chanson a, dès sa sortie en single en 1971, rencontré un succès considérable, atteignant la place n°1 des charts U.S. (le top 100 des Billboard) restant dans le classement pendant près de 16 semaines. Le célèbre magazine américain de chroniques musicales Rolling Stone, a même placé le titre à la 60ème place des 500 plus grandes chansons de tous les temps. Bref, vous l'avez compris, la chanson, qui est une ballade romantique, est devenue un standard ancré dans l'Histoire de la musique.
En 1982, Tina Turner va reprendre ce titre, et rencontrer ainsi un joli succès. La chanson  sera d'ailleurs reprise par une multitude d'artistes américains: Roberta Flack, Michael Bolton, Ms. Marilyn Marshall, Donny Osmond, Jimmy Smith, Michelle Williams, Boyz II Men, Big Mountain, Isaac Hayes, Robin Thicke, Brian Kennedy... et la dernière en date, par Seal en 2011. Cependant, la version originale d'Al Green reste la plus belle et figure dans les bandes originales de quelques films: Pulp Fiction (de Quentin Tarantino en 1994) et Munich (de Steven Spielberg en 2005); ainsi que dans la série Ally McBeal.
